I believe Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands is a masterpiece of modern cinema, in its premiere, though not received as it deserves, but, over the years, is considered as one of the best films in movie history. I have always been fascinated by the genius of Tim Burton in creating characters, environments and landscapes that can really make the audience experience the life in a world of fantasy.
I feel the atmosphere of “Frankenstein” and “Pinocchio” here and I guess Burton wants to speak out some social criticisms of people who cannot seem to accept a ‘different’ being as the product of creativity. Here, Johnny Depp really plays terrific as a victim who triggers rejection and ridicules, a weirdo with a golden heart who has to suffer the consequences of being different in the neighborhood.
